Switchable workflow: Replace Google Keep-style personal notes and checklists with a self-hosted notes board, including a documented Takeout import. Source
Self-hosting requires app and database administration. Optional AI features have separate provider requirements. Import completeness and synchronization edge cases have not been runtime-tested. Infrastructure, external API usage and optional services may have separate costs. Project source
Compare Google Keep vs itsnotesUse the step-by-step switching checklist
Match your actual workflow against the documented scope and limitations above. Test notes, images, labels and checklists from a real Google Takeout export. A self-hosted notes board introduces backup and administration work, and import does not establish two-way synchronization. None of these listings is a promise of feature parity.
Each app links to attributable evidence of AI-assisted development. A verified contribution badge means a public commit credits an AI coauthor; a maker claim means the owner states AI was used. Neither establishes that every line was AI-generated or reviewed.
itsnotes are documented as free to use. Check the license linked for each project. Running infrastructure can still incur costs. Open source alone is not evidence of AI authorship.
For Google Keep, focus on note import, images and checklists, synchronization. Keep originals, try disposable copies and inspect round-trip exports. Missing comparison facts are unknown.
